Destination signs were used to indicate to passengers which route a trolley was serving. They were designed to slide into a frame on each end of the car. At the end of each trip, the motorman would slide the sign out of the side of the frame and either rotate it to show the other side or exchange it for a different sign to indicate the new end destination of the car.
This sign was used on cars traveling the Thurmont Division of the H&F. It accompanied items from H&F #172 and may have been present on that car or #171 during the Last Trolley trip on February 20, 1954.
