H&F RR Marking Hammer

This unique hammer like tool was used to imprint the H&F initials into objects, most likely wooden material.  It is believed that this may have marked railroad ties and power poles with the company initials.  While marking hammers of this type were often swung with their own weight leaving the imprint this particular hammer appears to have also been struck on its reverse side by another hammer at least on occasion.
